Kentucky defeats Central Arkansas 67-40
November 6, 2007 - 11:54 pm

Kentucky comes out a winner over Central Arkansas 67-40. Next up for the Cats is Gardner-Webb, who defeated Alabama A&M 69-55.
I believe the spread going in was like 27 1/2, about spot on for the odds makers.
I wish I could of seen the game, but did listen to it on the radio. I can’t judge a whole lot from it.
Some thoughts
Patrick Patterson again gets in foul trouble. This is something he definitely has to fix, we can’t have him on the bench like that.
Joe Crawford helps carry the team offensively with 20 points in 18 minutes, he did have 4 turnovers though.
Mark Coury picks up a double-double in the game (13 and 10), after just missing one in the last exhibition. This is good.
Who would of thought Benson and Williams getting in like that? It surprised me a little, considering Williams didn’t play in either the exhibition games. Patterson was in foul trouble so it makes sense.
You look at the box score and you wonder where the offense was.
The percentage aren’t bad, but lack of player scoring was terrible. Now, something real ugly was the 20% FG% for Central Arkansas. Was that because of UK or were they that bad?
One thing I noticed…minutes were spread around tonight. Are some players in the doghouse?
Is coach saving some legs for possible upcoming larger matchups?
Post Game Quotes
Billy Gillispie…
It’s always fun to win. We’ve got a long way to go, obviously, but winning is a lot better than losing. We’re just making too many mental mistakes. Even though it’s only our third contest, we shouldn’t be making those kinds of mistakes. We have to have more effort and we have to have more thoughtful play.”
Mark Coury, on his play…
I feel excited for the next game to get out and play again. The waiting time is going to kill me. I want to come out tomorrow night and play with the same intensity. Getting to New York will be a great experience for me and the whole team. I was surprised to play 36 minutes tonight. I think anyone would have been surprised to see me play that much, but it was fun to go out and help out like that.”
