Alex Legion to visit Illinois
December 14, 2007
Former Kentucky Wildcat Alex Legion will be taking an official visit to Illinois next Tuesday.
I’m looking forward to going to Illinois and getting a chance to talk to Coach (Bruce) Weber and the players”
He also confirmed the reason for leaving had nothing to do with playing time.
Couple of news items
December 14, 2007
Kentucky guard Derrick Jasper left practice with sharp knee pain. There’s no word on the severity or his status.
Hopefully, this is only a minor discomfort and nothing major.
In other news…
UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart will receive a 5-year contract extension.
The contract will run through 2012 and pay him $475,000 per year, with incentives.
Alex Legion Speaks
December 13, 2007
Alex Legion finally came out and cleared some things up.
First, that he never had second thoughts about returning to Kentucky.
If you notice, there are no articles with me actually saying anything,” Legion said. “Yeah, I did decide to transfer, but as far as me coming back, I have no idea how that came out. I never went to any paper or writer and told them I had any thoughts of coming back.”
He also has listed the schools he’s interested in transferring to, which are Arkansas, Illinois, Michigan and Notre Dame.
Legion also confirmed that Notre Dame is currently the only school that has offered a scholarship.
Update:
Hump Links
December 12, 2007

There’s not really a bunch of news happening at the moment, other than the Alex Legion saga, and how much Kentucky is stinking.
Alex Legion Update
The latest is that UK has granted Alex Legion a release to talk to at least one other school. (No mention of what school that may be.)
Last week his mother said that eight schools have already offered scholarships.
Sir, Yes Sir!
Here’s a story on Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie comparing his coaching style to that of a military guy. It also goes on about his attention to detail, making sacrifices etc.
You better be a grinder to play for him, a blue-collar guy.” “He’s not Disney World. He’s Possum Kingdom Lake.”
Hey Ya’ll
JL Blue of A Sea of Blue, took a listen to coach Gillispie’s call-in show. He was wondering where they find these folks from.
Yes I know it’s terrible! I also tuned in and took a listen. I had to just sit back and laugh at the dumb questions and comments that were made. Even Gillispie himself was trying to contain the laughter, but couldn’t.
You can say one thing…It sure won’t help with the “stereotype” of people from Kentucky.

December 11, 2007
Coach Billy Gillispie said Derrick Jasper has been looking good in the limited practices he’s participated in.
It’s possible he could suit up for the game against UAB on Saturday.
Alex Legion transferring from Kentucky
December 11, 2007
It appears that Alex Legion will be transferring from Kentucky and will not be re-joining the team.
Tim Green, Legion’s godfather and former AAU coach…
The bottom line is he’s ready to get out of there …” “Ultimately, in his heart, he wants to move on.”
If indeed true…Here’s wishing Legion the best and hoping he gets everything straightened out with with basketball career.
Patience is a Virtue
December 9, 2007
It sure wasn’t a pretty performance by the Cats, that’s for sure. It looks like it’s going to be a long road ahead. It honestly pains me to watch this team play. I knew coming into this season it was going to be a down year, but actually looking this awful is something a little different.
I know the talent out on the floor isn’t the best, but we do have Ramel Bradley, Joe Crawford and Patrick Patterson. Bradley has just been off, Crawford is hit and miss and Patterson being a bright spot.
Both Bradley and Crawford need to have better performances game in and game out. These two guys are the leaders of this team and need to show it.
Speaking of Crawford…I felt yesterday he was trying to do too much. I know your parents are there and you’re playing against your lil’ bro, but you got to think of the team first.
The Blame Game
I felt the need to take a visit around the web and what I seen wasn’t pretty. Blame Tubby, Gillispie is a terrible coach and you name it.
Look, I know we look terrible out there and I don’t know if you can blame any one thing for the reason why. Coaching, players, execution etc. (It’s probably a little of everything at this point.)
I’m not ready to throw Gillispie under the bus yet, as some of you have already done. It’s just going to take time and probably will take longer that most expect. I still feel he’s the right guy for the job and will get the Cats back to where they belong.
Bottom line: Kentucky fans will need to have a lot of patience for the next couple of years. (I believe it will payoff in the end)
Pre-game Linkage and Other Updates
December 7, 2007
The yearly battle between Kentucky and Indiana takes place tomorrow afternoon in Bloomington. This is the first time UK has played at Assembly Hall since the 90-91 season.
IU Coach Kelvin Sampson said guard Eric Gordon will play Saturday. (Gordon suffered a bruised tailbone against Tennessee State on Monday.)
Judging by coach Gillispie’s reaction to how the Cat’s have been practicing, we should see some improvement.
“We’ve had a really good week.” “It’s been great. This has been our best week so far. We have a lot of improvement to make and I think we’re making it. We’re on the right track. We definitely have a long ways to go but I think we’re headed in the right direction.”
Lets hope so!
