Hump Links: Calgon, take me away!
December 5, 2007

It’s been a crazy week for Kentucky fans with all the Alex Legion transfer talk, Billy Gillispie bashing, Tubby bashing and parent bashing going on. Other than that there’s not much else that’s been happening.
Lets start off this short “Alex Legion” edition of Hump Links.
The Saga Continues
Word out now is that Alex Legion may decide NOT to transfer. Seth Davis reports that Legion is reconsidering his decision and that coach Gillispie would be open to a return.
Jerry Tipton provides more insight with quotes from Legion’s mother.
I’m told Billy and he have worked out their differences.” “If that’s true, I will support him. I don’t have a problem if he goes back. He’s the one that’s doing the hardship. He’s the one doing the workouts.”
More Defections?
Some feel that Alex Legion won’t be the last to leave. I agree one more could be out the door, as in Jared Carter.
John Clay predicts there could possibly be more.

Breaking News: Alex Legion reportedly to transfer
December 3, 2007
Jeff Goodman, of Foxsports.com is reporting that according to his sources, Kentucky freshman Alex Legion is planning to transfer.
Apparently it’s not about playing time, but rather coach Gillispie.
He was told he’d get his release later this week,” the source said. “It wasn’t about his playing time at all.”
This one sure will hurt if true. Can we catch a break?

My internet connection decided to go and stay down for quite awhile !@#
Anyhow, UK did release a statement on this.
We met with Alex and his mother Friday, and she informed us of her desire to seek a release for her son. Shortly after that meeting, Alex told me that he still wanted to be a part of our program. He played in the game against North Carolina Saturday and seemed happy when I spoke with him Sunday.”
So, is this his mother’s doing or what?
Kentucky vs UNC Observations
December 2, 2007
Kentucky - 77 UNC - 86
I thought we gave it a good shot and did the best with what we have. If it weren’t for some lapses in the opening minutes of the second half, things could have been a little different. I think it simply came down to being outmanned with more quality players and depth. Missing Meeks and Jasper really hurts us and it shows in a big way.
Patrick Patterson gave a nice showing, just missing a double-double with 19 points and 9 boards. He’s becoming more and more as advertised and unfortunately, I believe his career may be a short one at Kentucky.
Joe Crawford had a nice game with 21 points, but did have 5 turnovers. Congratulations are in order for Joe in joining UK’s 1,000 point club. It’s good to see this with how his career at Kentucky started.
A.J. Stewart looked as good as we’ve seen. If we can get some good hard play from this guy…this would certainly be a plus.
I really noticed some things with this team that impressed me. I seen toughness and thought they played hard. Even blood was shed, with Ramel Bradley sustaining a mouth injury that required stitches. Billy Gillispie’s hard nosed practices look to be making a difference in this.
