Kentucky vs Ole Miss random thoughts
February 27, 2008
I was shaking my head with disbelief, but then again, this is something that’s been the norm. If we ended up giving that game away I don’t know what I would have done. Pull my hair out, put a hole in the wall…something.
I thought Kentucky had a great start, but they just lack that killer instinct. (We just can’t play with a big lead) When we started building a decent lead I thought we were tentative for a little stretch there. Just passing the ball around, not looking to take shots etc. You have them on the ropes, go for it!
Mark Coury does not look comfortable at all out there.
More erratic turnovers, many were simply unnecessary.
Ole Miss looked T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E in the first half (It was hard to believe that team started the season 13-0) and Kentucky’s defense was a large reason why. The ‘Cats were contesting everything, they had hands and arms all over the place.
Perry Stevenson looked great out there, doing a bit of everything. (The second half was a different story) If we could only get that out of him on an regular basis.
I knew that the Rebels were bound to come out better in the second half. How could they not, with how poorly they were in the first. That’s why there’s two halves of basketball!
Kentucky looked lost early in the second half. Started with more turnovers, one and done shots, we simply got killed on the boards.
At the end, a win is a win and one that we’ll gladly accept. I don’t know how we keep on winning down the wire like this, but we do.
Next up..Tennessee this Sunday in Knoxville. This should be a fun one with the Vols all fired up and ready to seek revenge.

Don’t count us out yet
After the lack of notice in Kentucky’s victory over Arkansas. CSTV’s Brian Curtis, points out that Kentucky still has a shot of making the NCAA Tournament.

Field Projection
The Sporting News projects the field of 65, as of right now.

Thing of Beauty?
Despite the ugliness of it’s winning, Kentucky is capable of beauty, too.
“It’s very, very difficult to look beautiful,” Gillispie conceded, “but you can do it. It takes repetitions.”
Juco
The Wildcats are one of four schools looking to land Juco guard Kevin Galloway.
Blah Blah
After this article from the other day. We get another hoghead article questioning Billy Gillispie’s future with UK. (Is there a lack of “real news” in Arkansas, or what?)
More headlines concerning tonight’s game can be found on the Gameday: UK vs Ole Miss News and Notes post.
Seth Davis wants to disappoint
February 26, 2008
It seems there is always someone who tries to knock down “Big Blue Nation”. If we’re happy, they’re not!
In his ‘Hoop Thoughts‘ article, dUKie Seth Davis says he’s hearing that Patrick Patterson is seriously considering turning pro.
On the other hand…
Matt Jones says not so fast! Unless there is a drastic change and he’s believed to be a top 5 pick, he’ll be back.
Let’s face it. The majority know that Patterson will likely leave early at some point, but after this year? I also don’t see this happening. At the earliest it would most likely be after next season.
Judging by Billy Gillispie’s response yesterday, he knows Patterson will have a decision to make also.
You would like to keep everyone for four years, but that’s not realistic in today’s world.
But I don’t think he meant after this season. From all takes, Patterson, along with his family are loving their time at UK.
Bottom line…No guarantees, but I don’t see it happening after this year.
