Monday NewsHonors

For the third time, Patrick Patterson was named SEC Freshman of the week.

For the Long Haul?

Suggestions that Billy Gillispie and UK won’t last the long haul. Should they ever part, John Pelphrey and Travis Ford would be logical choices. (Naughty Arkansas news)

Meeks Update

Billy Gillispie hasn’t given up hope that Jodie Meeks will this season.

“I know that he’s trying real hard, and he’s spending the proper amount of time (rehabilitating), probably more time than anyone one,” Gillisipe said today on the SEC coaches’ teleconference. “He hasn’t given up, and I definitely haven’t given up on having him available.”

Recruiting

Former Ballard High School guard Twany Beckham is attracting interest from the likes of Kentucky, Virginia and Marquette.

“I asked if they were available to come and see me play, and he said he would get back with me,” Beckham said. “They want to see some film. (Kentucky) would be a dream come true. But I don’t know: If it happens, then it happens.”

Recruit Tyrone Appleton is expected to announce his decision between either Kansas, Kentucky, Iowa state or Texas. (Kansas will likely be his choice)

The Big Cat

Former Wildcat Jamaal Magloire was waived by the New Jersey Nets. A likely destination could be the Dallas Mavericks.
